Windows 10 four weeks in - still too many rough edges

So I've been running build 10240 - or effectively RTM code since July 16.   In that time there have been three "cumulative" updates released to address a number of bugs.

But in reality - a lot of things in Windows 10 don't work as well as they do in Windows 8.1.  And many of the items I complained about initially in 10240 have still not been corrected.

The biggest for me is location.   On all 5 of my PCs and 1 phone I have running Windows 10 none of them accurately reflect location.  It is often miles off which is inexcusable since the same app on Windows 8.1 works perfectly. Even though MS updated the Maps app today - it still doesn't work.   The community is flooded with complaints regarding this..   But this also effects Weather and other location aware apps.

Next is other simple things that should be working correctly in a working release.  The Bing picture of the day background does not update consistently. On some devices it does on others it doesn't.

The Default apps in settings still does not recognize MS's own Calendar or Office as the default app.

The Store app consistently crashed.  Also when you go to downloads and check for updates, if the Store app itself is included, the app abruptly closes and does not restart to show you progress of remaining app downloads.   I'm sorry but the Store App - shouldn't be treated as an app - but rather a part of the OS itself and properly updated via Windows update.

The News, Money and Sports apps do not consistently update and are generally slow to update content.

Edge is also still a mess.   Most folks are either using IE or Chrome.

Bottom line is this, MS could have easily spent more time cleaning up Windows 10 prior to release.   The current state of Windows 10 can be described in one simple word - sloppy..

MS is too large of a company with too much experience and resources to release a product this sloppy and inconsistent.   You don't walk away from a Windows 10 install feeling confident...

With the level of importance placed around Windows 10 for MS in lieu of the market disaster that Windows 8 was - the poor execution is more than just disappointing it shows lack of leadership and focus...
