Windows 10 Build 10576 - TH2 nearing completion

On Oct 29, MS released build 10576 of the TH2 Branch to Fast Ring Insiders.  As always I installed on a number of systems including desktops, laptops and tablets.

As has been the case now for the last several TH2 build releases build 10576 easily showed up properly in Windows Update, downloaded quickly and installed without incident on all machines.  So kudos for MS for getting this process solid and stable.

I have not performed any Windows 10 updates from Windows 8.1 recently - so don't have any valuable comments in that regard.

As has also been the case, MS has continued to also update many of the store apps and it seems like an almost continuous release of updates to either MSN apps, Photos, Groove Music, Mail and Calendar, etc.  But on thing that does seem a little disappointing is that with all the updates, several of my live tiles on some machines just don't keep themselves updated - which to me is the point of a live tile.  I'm not 100% if it is a timeout thing, but to me the point is if I have MSN Sports installed and configured as a live tile - it should update via push pretty consistently.  It does well on my mobile device, but not as well on my desktop.

Some of the new features of build 10576 - specifically the new stream casting feature for Edge I haven't tested - but overall 10576 seems pretty complete.

I have to assume with the general availability of Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book that MS has to be very close with release of TH2.  I can't see them going much more than another week since new buyers are probably getting 10240 + some cumulative updates and TH2 is such a better experience.

For you folks who have been on the fence about whether to update an existing Windows 7 or 8.1 machine to Windows 10, with TH2 you will have a much better overall experience than those who dove in with 10240 back in June.

With that said, as I have always stated - please perform your due diligence first before making the leap.   Make sure you have a good backup and really look at the support for things like video drivers, wifi, etc.  Also make sure your BIOS is flashed to the latest release for your device.

Even now the various OEMs are just releasing their Windows 10 specific hardware, mostly laptop/hybrid configurations first - so if your a desktop or all-in-one user hang in there - you may potentially not see new models until after the holidays.

Bottom line is that for all intents and purposes, TH2 is done and now the Redstone branch will commence.  It will be interesting so if MS will actually get rid of the control panel and remove IE along with cleaning up other legacy UI apps.
